On Thursday the 2nd of April we attended the Hogar del Niño’s Cafe de la Leche, which was hosted by Malele Strofer in her beautiful Casa de Campo home. The Cafe de la Leche brings together a group of Casa de Campo’s ladies to enjoy a light snack, a few drinks and pleasant conversation with the added bonus of contributing to the Hogar del Niño. Everyone is welcome and each lady brings a donation of dried milk, cereal or baby formula, which is then passed on to the Hogar del Niño’s crib room where it is provides 40% of the milk needed each month. This month’s Cafe de la Leche was attended by at least 100 women, including Alexandra Avanzini, who was one of the ladies who first began the Cafe de la Leche back in 2001, and Xiomarxita Mendendez, who is currently running the Hogar del Niño foundation. Malele, this month’s host did a superb job, the house looked fantastic, the food was an interesting mix, including shrimp, salads, cous-cous, cheeses, cured meats and a delcious selection of sweets, as well as a nice selection of teas, some wonderful chilled coffee and peach-champagne cocktails.

Next month’s Cafe de la Leche is being hosted by Ivonna Sosa and we will be bringing you more details of this event when we have them.
