British Chamber of Commerce Announces 25th Royal Cup Golf Tournament

The British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (BRITCHAMDR) will host the 25th Royal Cup on Saturday, July 27, at the Teeth of the Dog golf course in Casa de Campo.

BRITCHAMDR President Amauris Vásquez Disla and Tournament Technical Director Félix Olivo announced that the event will start at 8:30 a.m. and follow a pair scramble format across A, B, and C categories. Prizes will be awarded for the three lowest net scores in each category and the best gross score. Special awards will also be given for the longest drive and the Closest to the Pin.

Vásquez Disla announced that an awards ceremony will take place following the competition, featuring raffles and gifts courtesy of sponsoring companies and BRITCHAMDR. The best gross score winner will receive a replica of the renowned Claret Jug, a tradition for the tournament.

Graham Jessup, the UK Embassy’s Commercial Officer in the Dominican Republic, representing Ambassador Mockbul Ali OBE, and Fernando González Nicolás, BRITCHAMDR’s former president and founder, attended the event’s launch. José María Cabral, former BRITCHAMDR president and initiator of the British golf cup, will deliver the opening shot and will be honored in this year’s edition for his contributions.

Other notable attendees included Jorge Sturla, Communications Director of Central Romana, and Andrea Attus, Casa de Campo’s Golf Director.
