On Saturday the 7th of May, Casa de Campo Living played host to a group of polo players, their friends and family on a boat ride to Palmilla! The polo players were here for the FIP (Federation of International Polo) World Cup Play-Offs, which took place in Casa de Campo from Tuesday the 3rd of May, ending yesterday the 15th of May, when Mexico beat the Dominican Republic 14-11 meaning that Mexico will be heading to the FIP World Cup finals in October this year, where they will join team USA, who won their place at the finals by beating Canada in a polo match played on Casa de Campo’s polo fields last Tuesday. Leaving from the Marina Casa de Campo at a punctual 11.20am (it was meant to be 11am, but factoring in Dominican time, we left practically early), the group of more than 40 set sail to Palmilla, Casa de Campo’s most beautiful maritime spot and everyone’s favorite place to spend a day enjoying the best of the Caribbean; sun, sea and rum! On the ride over there, most took it easy enjoying a few chilled beers, whilst others (yes you Argentinians) got cracking on the rum. The catamaran’s slow pace afforded us all the perfect opportunity to enjoy the view of the coastline, as we passed Bayahibe fishing village with its hundreds of fishing boats, the many all-inclusive resorts of Dominicus and the long white beaches that line the rest of the coast. Arriving into Palmilla, we found we were among one of the first boats to arrive and the scene was rather quiet and idyllic – that is until our group (beers in hand) jumped into the water! There is nothing quiet like floating in those warm crystal blue waters with a drink in your hand, feeling your face being warmed by the tropical midday sun. Back on the boat, and as more people started to opt for rum instead of beer, we opened the food, turned on some good Latin tunes and got the party started! What a fantastic day!

During their stay in Casa de Campo, the teams and their accompanying friends, families and supporters enjoyed a pig-roast dinner at the Polo Club, a Donkey Polo Match and dinner at the BeachClub by Le Cirque as well as a number of fun activities organized by Casa de Campo Living: a Cigar Tour to the Tabacalera de Garcia a night out at the Casino Diamante Dominicus Bayahibe and of course the pinnacle of them all – this catamaran boat trip to Palmilla!
