This past weekend all who were out and about in Altos de Chavón got to enjoy more of Casa de Campo’s events in their Holiday 2016 calendar. On Friday, Santa Claus returned to his workshop just off Plaza Chavón for more photos with little ones, and Benny and the Cupids made a grand appearance later on in the evening for “Fiesta on the Rocks”.
This is the first year Casa de Campo has built Santa’s workshop and boy did it impress! Down a staircase of Christmas lights, lanterns, and candy canes, Santa’s quintessential red and green house stood decorated with snowflakes, glittery ice sickles, poinsettias, and cardboard cutouts of Santa and his elves for enthusiasts to take some fun Christmas pictures.
Feeling the chill of December’s evening breeze, we wrapped up in light sweaters and chatted with friends on the cobbles under Altos de Chavón’s magic lights. Taking us through a spin of the decades, Benny and the Cupids sang classics from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Memorable songs included Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”, James Brown’s “I feel good”, and “Kiss” by Prince. Excited children danced on stage, chasing patterns of lights, and knowing nearly every song myself it was hard to keep quiet! I happily sang along to the tunes with several other couples, families, and friends.
Guests were able to take some cool videos as Benny Hiraldo, lead singer, danced on stage and belted out the lyrics to popular hits like “EX’s and OH’s” by Elle King and “Counting Stars” by One Republic. If you missed the outdoor concert, we encourage you to mark your calendars for this Friday’s “Boleros on the Rocks” with Johanna Almanzar and his band in Altos de Chavón.
