Here is a message from Proyecto Alegre – to explain who they are and more about their wonderful project!
This Christmas help share and spread happiness to those less fortunate children who don’t get Santa’s yearly visit. Let’s all team up to give these children the best Christmas we possibly can.
Proyecto Alegre is an all volunteer organization that has come together to help children of scarce resources in La Romana. Our aim is to improve the quality of life of these children by building a bridge between those most in need and those interested and capable of helping.
The children and their gifts! Let’s hear it for Santa Claus!
Every December we organize an event where we share with hundreds of children. This year our aim is to give a Christmas present to 200 children. The gift usually consists of toys, school supplies, clothes, shoes, candies, personal items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. We are asking if you have old toys, clothing or anything else you would kindly donate to please bring it to our toy drive.
We will be set up at the Christmas Bazaar in Chavon in order to facilitate it to anybody who wishes to make a donation. Who said Santa Claus had to have a big white beard and a belly? You can play Santa and help spread the joy to those children who need it the most. After all that’s what Christmas is all about.

Proyecto Alegre will also be exhibiting and selling paintings produced by young artists that make part of the Alegre Social Program. This program helps promote personal development by encouraging children to develop art skills. ¡Ayúdanos llevar el espíritu navideño!
Esta Navidad comparte y lleva alegría a aquellos niños menos afortunados que no reciben la visita de Santa Claus. Cooperemos todos para poder darles a ellos la mejor navidad posible.
Proyecto Alegre consiste en un grupo de jóvenes que se ha unido para ayudar a niños de La Romana. Nuestra organización busca crear una mejor calidad de vida para los jóvenes de escasos recursos, construyendo puentes de colaboración entre aquellas comunidades más necesitadas y las personas que tienen el interés y las posibilidades de ayudar.
Cada Diciembre hacemos un evento donde compartimos con cientos de niños. Este año le llevaremos regalos a 200 niños. Este usualmente consiste de juguetes, algunos útiles escolares, artículos personales (como pasta dental, y cepillos dentales), zapatos, t-shirts, dulces etc. Queremos pedirle que si ustedes tienen juguetes, ropa y cualquier otra cosa que puedan donar que por favor los traigan a nuestro toy-drive.
Estaremos en el Bazaar Navideño de Chavón para facilitarle las donaciones a cualquier persona que quiera colaborar. ¿Quién dijo que Santa Claus tenía que ser barrigón y de barba blanca? Se Santa por un día y ayúdanos a llevarles felicidad a eso niños que más lo necesitan.
Proyecto Alegre también estará exhibiendo y vendiendo pinturas hechas por artistas que forman parte del Programa Social Alegre. Este programa ayuda a promover el desarrollo personal motivando a los niños a desarrollar habilidades en el arte y la pintura.
