The Gallery in Altos de Chavón announces the opening, for November 19th, of the exhibition ‘Artist in Residence, Fall 2015’, a program of the Fundación Centro Cultural Altos de Chavon, with the artists Alma Peguero, Tomás Pichardo and Luis Valverde, graduated from the Altos de Chavón School of Design.
Alma Peguero, in 2009 she graduated from Parsons The New School for Design, where she studied based on a scholarship earned from her work in Fine Arts and Illustration at The Altos de Chavón School of Design. That same year she completed studies in the science of yoga, and since then she has dedicated herself passionately to teaching art and yoga.
Tomás Pichardo, graduated in 2008 from Digital Design and in 2007 from Fine Arts / Illustration, was accepted into the research center in communications Fabrica, located in Treviso, Italy, which has a curriculum and highly competitive job and founded by Benetton in 1994. It was published in the Pictoplasma Animation Festival in Germany, which exposed 250 illustrations from over 2,500 submitted. His animation of South Sudan was published in La Stampa and La Repubblica in Italy.
Luis Valverde, graduated from the Altos de Chavón School of Design of the technical course Communications Design, completed his studies in Argentina: Stop Motion, Motion Graphics and handling video in real time or vjing. Currently a partner in the Pixeleria where works as Art Director. Since 2014 is Co-Director of the Department of Visual Communication at the Altos de Chavón School of Design.
The Artists in Residence program aims to sponsor an educational and cultural interchange between Dominican and foreign artists who live and work in Altos de Chavon for three months. During this time, they interact with their Dominican counterparts, sharing experiences and ideas in the different disciplines. This dynamic interchange has brought about changes in traditional ways of working materials or applying techniques in the various art forms. The artists work their projects on their own spaces, and at the end of their stay participate in a group exhibition at The Gallery.
This exhibition will be available for the public until December 12th.
