Everyone in Casa de Campo La Romana loves Fatima. Fatima is one of those special people who is always full of energy and is truly passionate about life – she shares her time between her 3 real passions: painting, dancing and spending time with friends.

Fatima, originally from Spain splits her time between Spain and the Dominican Republic, where she lives in a beautiful Casa de Campo golf villa with a view of the sea and decorated with her own art work. Whilst in the Dominican Republic, she enjoys our little piece of paradise, taking daily walks on the beach, painting, golfing on the Teeth of the Dog and sharing dinner with friends – Fatima is a wonderful cook and a great host as many of you will surely already know!

Fatima – the painter

Fatima’s paintings and artwork are unique. She has 2 painting styles (which I as a non-artist have recognized); real life paintings – landscapes, flowers and portraits, abstract painting, as well as paintings (or sculptures) which feature aspects of both her painting styles, but with geometrically bold shapes and opening doors and shutters – fascinating and very beautiful.

Fatima’s history as a painter and artist began when she was 10 years old in France, where she began her artistic studies and continued in England and Ireland. Following this passion, Fatima spent 5 years at the ‘Universidad del Pais Vasco’ where she specialized in painting, but also studied ceramics, engraving, screen printing, wood carving, sculpture, photography, restoration and conservation.

Fatima first arrived in the Dominican Republic in 1990 and since then has fallen in love with the beautiful climate, our gorgeous Caribbean ocean and the laid-back relaxed way of life. Since coming here, Fatima has been able to enrich and vary her painting and artistic abilities – often taking inspiration from Casa de Campo’s many golf courses, especially the stunning Teeth of the Dog and the Dye Fore.

Fatima’s enduring love for painting continues unabated – she paints all year round, spending 6 months painting in her studio in Spain and another 6 months painting here in her Casa de Campo studio, constantly created new, fresh pieces, which can be found exhibited in Europe, USA, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Peru, Ecuador, Hong Kong and Canada.

Fatima – the dancer!

Fatima started dancing when she was just 4 years old and is just as passionate about dancing now as she was then! She first learnt ballet and Flamenco, but having lived in the Dominican Republic for 21 years, she also loves the latin rhythms of Salsa, Merengue and even Bachata! Fatima’s true dancing passion is Flamenco, she has a stunning collection of typical Sevillana dresses and will dance at every opportunity, Fatima recently danced Falmenco in our ‘Teatro de la Comunidad’ talent show in the Altos de Chavón amphitheater (click here for photos and video), more recently she danced the night away at the Paella and Flamenco Festival at La Casita (click here for photos) and is now teaching Flamenco classes at Pointe Dance School in La Romana every Wednesday (click here for more info.)
