Calling all Casa de Campo villa owners and art aficionados! We would like to introduce, Brian Hewitt, an American artist, sculptor and creator of the “Whale Tail”, a majestic sculptor and symbol of power which would be the perfect addition to any Casa de Campo villa.
Brian, who currently lives in the United States, enjoys regular visits to Casa de Campo to visit his college roommates, who are villa owners here and recognizing a niche clientele, that appreciate fine art (that’s you, Casa de Campo villa owners), he would like to take this opportunity to present his artwork to you.
The Whale Tail
The “Whale Tail” sculptures capture the gracefulness and awe of the largest living mammal in the world. A whale tail is symbolic of power and vulnerability. A whale is an intelligent and resourceful animal that has rebounded from near extinction. If you are lucky you see only the tail as it gracefully breaches the ocean surface evoking the imagination of the massive animal that lies beneath.
Each sculpture is custom made from a variety of materials to the clients tastes and desires. The light reflecting from sculpture and the shadow is ever changing. Stone or wood. “Using wood as a medium I am able to create a very animated sculpture because it is fairly light. I prefer cedar as it will last decades and naturally age much as a whale.” And for those that want a sculpture that will last an eternity, granite has a real visual impact with it’s polished look standing alone or in a fountain. Or a pair or tails, mother and calf represents the nurturing bond of mother and child.
Each piece is created on-site or nearby depending on size and material. Large or small, indoor or outdoor.
