The MIR Foundation in collaboration with the Heliconia Project hosted a charity art exhibition featuring the prominent American artist, Brittany Fanning. 10% of the funds raised through the sale of her pieces will be allocated to the schools of this organization, addressing the needs of over 1,000 children in La Romana.

This charitable initiative took place within the framework of the “Golf for Education” tournament held last Saturday, January 12, at the La Romana Country Club of Casa de Campo.

Brittany Fanning, a recognized figurative painter based in Los Angeles, has gained increasing recognition among collectors and curators in the international art scene. Her works, included in prestigious collections such as Beth Ruding DeWoody’s at Bunker Arts Space in West Palm Beach, Florida, have captivated audiences worldwide. Her recent solo exhibition in September at The Lodge Gallery, LA, solidified her position in the contemporary art scene.

Fanning’s creations, with vibrant and varied scenes, sometimes dreamlike and playful, are influenced by the luxurious architectural spaces, carefully curated gardens, and recreational pastimes distinctive to Los Angeles and Florida. Her artworks, inhabited by a solitary and anonymous female figure, serve as evocations of imaginary places of comfort and solitude, providing havens in what seems to be a world in constant crisis.

The Heliconia Project, founded by collectors and curators Nicole Bainov and Elsa Maldonado, stands as a platform to introduce international artists and their work to both local and visiting collectors in the Dominican Republic. Additionally, it aims to strengthen the connection of Dominican artists with the international art scene.

The event was a resounding success, as all of Brittany Fanning’s artworks were acquired on the same night. This act of generosity and support for education reflects the transformative power of art and its ability to contribute to the well-being of the community.
