Arriba Dominicana! For the Dominican Republic, yesterday’s date (Thursday the 14th of March 2013), is definitely one to remember in the history of Baseball in the Dominican Republic, Latin America and the whole world – after an extraordinary game played against the United States, the “selección Dominicana” remains undefeated, beating USA 3 to 1 at the Miami Marlins Park in the World Baseball Classic!

That’s right!! Dominican Republic, not only beat the U.S. team in the imperious Miami Marlins Park last night (March 14th), but also has an unmarred record of success – having beaten Venezuela, Spain, Italy and Puerto Rico since the World Baseball Classic started on March the 2nd 2013 in Puerto Rico.

In last night’s exciting game, the score remained 1 to 1 until the 9th inning – undoubtedly a nail-biting moment for both teams, and then definitely THE best moment for the super Dominican baseball stars; Nelson Cruz and Erick Aybar who, managing 2 more runs claimed a 3 to 1 victory for the Dominican Republic, as well as our qualification for the semi-finals! Arriba Dominicanaa!!!

However, there are plenty more exciting games to come (we hope)! Although the Dominican Republic has already been qualified for the semi-finals, the baseball games will continue to be played today between USA and Puerto Rico. So TOMORROW (Saturday the 16th of March) at 1pm, whoever wins today will get to play against the “Dominican-power” team at 1pm in the last game of the second round – which as the Dominican Republic is already qualified for the semi-finals will be more like a nice warm-up or practice for our team of Dominican superstars!
