La Romana-Bayahibe Hotels Association (AHRB), representing the tourism sector of the La Romana Destination, held its 2024 Annual General Assembly on Tuesday, March 12. During this key event on the organization’s agenda, the achievements of 2023 were presented, the perspectives and actions to be carried out during 2024 were outlined, and the new Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 period was elected.

In a notable development, Mr. Andrés Fernández was re-elected as President of the AHRB Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 period, enthusiastically received and trusted by the association members. His leadership and commitment have been fundamental to the unity and ongoing success of the AHRB.

Andrés Fernández is a professional with extensive experience in the tourism sector. Since his arrival in the Dominican Republic in 1996, he has held various positions of responsibility, always demonstrating his leadership capabilities. His connection with Central Romana Corporation began in September 2006, as Manager of Tour Operations, based at the La Romana Cruise Port. Since 2012, he has served as Commercial Director of the La Romana International Airport, a position he currently combines with the Commercial Directorship of the Cruise Port.

La Romana leads hotel occupancy

Regarding the most notable results of 2023, La Romana stood out by leading with an 86% hotel occupancy rate, significantly surpassing the national average of 73%, according to figures from the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism.

For the year 2024, the AHRB aims to promote governance standards, consolidate relationships with various stakeholders, strengthen its position as a benchmark in sustainable tourism at the national level, and encourage greater investment both publicly and privately. In addition to continuing to contribute to the sustainable development of La Romana-Bayahibe and carrying out activities that attract public and tourism interest in general, such as the La Romana Golf Tournament, the Bayahibe 10K Race, among others.

The mission of the AHRB is to project La Romana as a model of development and implementation of sustainable tourism at the national and international levels. Likewise, they seek to generate programs and projects that minimize the environmental impact on hotel operations, support local communities, and facilitate dialogue among social, business, and governmental actors linked to tourism.
