One of the most awaited events in each December at Altos de Chavón is the ballet presentation from the Elizabeth P. de Zeller ballet academy and this year, Ivonne Zeller (Director of the academy), presented “The Greatest Show” inspired by the very popular movie musical The Greatest Showman. On Saturday December 8th, the Altos de Chavón Amphitheater was dazzled by the beautiful costumes and the majestic presentation that was this year performance. The wonderful and talented students from the Elizabeth P. de Zeller Academy delivered an impressive performance, a masterpiece full of intricate and spirited dances, as well as vivid and multicolored costumes. The stage was beautifully decorated with a large circus tent and transparent ballons with coloured mini lights giving the impression that they were floating on thin air and continuing with the circus theme, there was a clown walking around the amphitheater selling treats. The show started with one of the most popular songs of the movie sountrack, “The greatest show” with the girls dressed in red tail jackets emulating the costume worn by P.T. Barnum in the movie.  Even though the rain threatened to stop the presentation, everybody in the audience stayed put in support of the girls motivating them to continue until the end when the rain stopped. Every student in the Academy took part in the performance, from the adorable toddlers who initially danced to Moana’s song “How far I’ll go”, to the most experienced and talented dancers.  The profits made from the ticket sales are donated to the Hogar de Ancianos Padre Abreu, located in La Romana. A noble tradition that was started by the Founder of this Ballet Academy, Elizabeth P. “Tia Eli” de Zeller. So not only the students dance their hearts out in this performance, they do it for a bigger purpose: helping those who need it. Congratulations to every single student in the Academy for their great performance, and to the amazing team that teach and guide them through the art of dancing: Ivonne Zeller, Magda Zeller de McCabe de Zeller, and Karina Abreu. The performance was amazing!
