American Airlines, a founding partner of the global oneworld ® Alliance, recently announced the winners of the innovative promotion – intended to raise funds for the cancer unit of “Voluntariado de Jesús con los Niños” based in Santiago in the Dominican Republic.
This initiative was made possible thanks to American Airlines customers who joined in this effort through the purchase of tickets for a raffle in which you could win American Airlines tickets and AAdvantage miles. Mr. Dimas Suarez was in first place, and was awarded two American Airlines tickets to any U.S. destination for the airline and Mr. George Riley, who finished second, was awarded 35,000 miles from American Airlines AAdvantage .
The revenue total was 80,600.00 pesos, which will go to the “Voluntariado de Jesús con los Niños”, a nonprofit organization based in Santiago. The organization was founded in 2007 and is the first unit for adolescent burns victims in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean and also cares for children with cancer.
Bojos Oliver, CEO of American Airlines to Dominican Republic, said: “As a family we’ve teamed up with our customers to collaborate with the Voluntariado de Jesús con los Niños, as we feel a strong commitment to contribute to these noble cause, ” he said.
Through these actions American Airlines aims to not only contribute to economic development, but also collaborate with the welfare of Dominican society.
The draw was made by D’street with Daphne, a program broadcast every Saturday at 10:00 PM in Teleantillas, channel 2.
