The AMCHAMDR Ambassador’s Cup is in memory of Charles T. Manatt who served as the ambassador to the Dominican Republic under President Clinton from 1999 to 2001. He was instrumental in forming initiatives with private sectors to benefit the Dominican Republic at large, the Ambassador’s Cup being one of them.

Last Saturday, April 8th, on a sunny afternoon in Casa de Campo, 120 golfers came out for the seventeenth edition of the Ambassador’s Cup hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAMDR); also in attendance was Charles Manatt’s wife, Kathy looking radiant and happy to support the tradition. Everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously with a lot of laughs, and competed vigorously for the title. The top winners of the gross first place prize went to Jose Tomas Contreras and Jose Juan Contreras with 65 strokes.

James Wally Brewster kicked off the event with the honorary putt. He later thanked the sponsors and support of the United States Embassy for its “drive to convert dreams into reality.” The Ambassador’s Cup will aid community development and elementary education in different regions of the island. Listed below are the winners in the net category, while Fausto Conde took home the closest-to-the-pin award, and Francisco Muñoz the award for the Longest Drive.
