Earlier in March, the AMCHAMDR Ambassador’s Cup was announced and an opening ceremony cocktail will take place this evening at the pool area of the Casa de Campo Hotel at 6:30 pm. It will be hosted by Mrs. Kathleen Manatt and AMCHAMDR for the Charles T. Manatt memorial.
This marks the 17th edition of the Ambassador’s Cup, which plays on the Teeth of the Dog tomorrow morning, April 9th. The day officially kicks off at Lago Restaurant at 7:00am with golfer registration and breakfast, and a welcome message by William M. Malamud, Executive Vice President of AMCHAMDR, followed by the presentation of tournament rules from Janiris De Peña, President of JDP Caribbean Golf. The honorary first putt will be had by Mr. James W. Brewster, Ambassador of the United States.
The tournament is in a scramble format in pairs with players competing in three different categories. Net and gross champions will be awarded, as well as the winner of the longest drive and the closest to the pin. Funds raised during the AMCHAMDR Ambassador’s Cup are used to benefit community development projects located in different parts of the country. Last year’s proceeds supported a joint school-community focus on art, culture and entrepreneurship.
The awards ceremony and raffles will follow the game after lunch at the Casa de Campo Flamboyant conference center.
