The Altos de Chavón Art Gallery announces the opening of “The Essential Strokes,” a solo exhibition by Argentine artist Susana Gíser, on view from June 14 through July 14, 2025. The exhibit is supported by the Embassy of Argentina in the Dominican Republic and will be inaugurated with the distinguished presence of Ambassador Sandra Winkler.
The exhibition explores the fundamentals of essentialist art, a movement that distills artistic expression to its purest components: form, color and line. Gíser’s works are marked by deliberate restraint and emotional depth, inviting viewers to observe with intention and connect with what is truly essential.

Under the concept “Art as Inheritance, Search, and Essence,” the exhibition offers a contemplative experience where each stroke represents a contained, honest expression—free from artifice—and a constant pursuit of truth.
“This exhibition challenges viewers to look with intention and to find meaning in simplicity. It is an intimate, silent, and deeply emotional experience. Altos de Chavón is honored to welcome Susana Gíser, whose work not only displays refined technical mastery, but also a creative honesty that resonates with our mission—to serve as a bridge between art and the human essence. The Essential Strokes reminds us that in its purest form, art doesn’t need to shout to be heard,” said Luciana Goldfain, director of the gallery.
This exhibition enriches the local creative scene and sparks dialogue on the role of art in a world saturated with stimuli.
About the Artist: Susana Gíser
Born in Argentina to Polish immigrant parents, Susana Gíser carries a legacy of resilience. From a young age, art was a natural language for her—something innate that needed not be learned, only remembered. After years of working with figurative themes, she found her voice in Pictorial Essentialism, studying directly under Heriberto Zorrilla and Helena Distéfano.
Her academic background in Language, Literature and Latin imbues her work with a rare intellectual sensitivity. Her paintings are both visual and poetic; each composition reflects a meditation on form, silence and meaning.
She has exhibited at the Law School of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Paseo de la Recova, and other institutions. Her reserved profile and resistance to exhibiting make this show at Altos de Chavón a true artistic event.
