Altos de Chavon Interin art coursesThe Altos de Chavón School of Art and Designed has announced the “Interim” program of art and design courses for January 2015.

The Interim Programs are a range of intensive courses for the general public which are imparted by professionals and renowned artists, some of which form part of the Altos de Chavón School of Design Faculty. There are a variety of courses available such as: Sculpture, Interior Design, Film Production, Screenplay, Drawing, Fashion Photography and Design Process.

The courses run from the 5th of January until the 16th of January.

Interin 2015

Where: The Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design, as well as the Altos de Chavón Center for Art and Design in Santo Domingo.

Sculpture:

  • Instructor: Mark Lineweaver
  • Dates: 12 – 16 of January
  • Description: This course will study the anatomical structures and features of the subject in order to create a similar sculpture. Both historical and modern techniques will be implemented.

Interior Design:

  • Intructor: Sheila Bridges
  • Dates: 12 – 16 of January
  • Description: This course will review the themes of color, materials/textures, use of space, furnishing and more. The aim is to allow the student to analyse and design depending on the wishes of the client.

Film Production:

  • Instructor: Amaya Izquierdo
  • Dates: 12 – 16 of January
  • Description: The aim of this course is to obtain basic knowledge of narratives and film development. To accomplish this goal the students will become acquainted with pre-production and production processes, as well as basic theories of screenplay.

Screenplay:

  • Instructor: Rafael Baez
  • Dates: 5 – 16 of January
  • Description: This course will focus on structure and concept of screenplay writing. The aim is to acquire the skill of formulating convincing and coherent stories, within a short amount of time and in the proper screenplay structure for films.

Drawing:

  • Instructor: Melanie Reim
  • Dates: 5 – 9 of the January
  • Description: This course will utilize a live model to highlight techniques on how the student approaches the subject. The students will be able to create attractive drawings through intense exercises.

Fashion Photography:

  • Instructor: Michael Robinson
  • Dates: 5 – 9 of January
  • Description: This course will include the entire process of creating ideas for publicity ads, publications and more. This will also develop the way that an image is conceptualized and produced.

Design Process:

  • Instructor: Luis Valverde
  • Dates: 12 – 16 of January
  • Description: The course will be composed by a range of techniques such as sketching and word games in order to entice ideas. They will also experiment with different materials to capture their essence.
