For Industrial Engineer, Alberto Gonzalez, what started as a simple idea for a birthday celebration turned into one of the most selfless events one could ever think of! The 1st Alberto Gonzalez Open will be played on the 16th of November in benefit of the Hogar de Ancianos Padre Abreu.
The Links golf course in Casa de Campo will be where this philanthropic event will take place on Sunday November 16th at 8am, and is being organized by Alberto Gonzalez (Director), Joaquín Montero (Organizer), Carlos Sánchez (Coordinator) and Homero Saviñon (Consultant),
The purpose of this tournament is to donate the profits to the Hogar de Anciano Padre Abreu, the local retirement center located in La Romana. Mr. Alberto Gonzalez, an avid contributor with the Hogar de Ancianos Padre Abreu and creator of this event, decided that that this year he wanted to do more than what he normally does, and decided to motivate other institutions and people to support this cause by creating this tournament.
“I am supporting the Hogar de Ancianos Padre Abreu, because it is an institution that aims to fight for the establishment of a happier and dignified life for the elderly, by taking in elderly citizens that are completely neglected in our city of La Romana.” Mr. Alberto Gonzalez told Casa de Campo Living. “Currently, the Hogar de Ancianos lacks very important and fundamental resouces for their everyday lives such as adequate food, medicines, clothing, footwear, medical equipments for therapies and repairs of the infrastructure, as well as monetary resources to solve problems that present themselves on a daily basis.”
The format for the tournament will be a pairs Scramble with a 24 maximum handicap, which will be divided into four categories: A, B, C and Super Senior (65+). Each category will tee off from different tees.
The prize-giving ceremony of the tournament will take place after the tournament at Club Caza y Pesca in Buena Vista Norte.
