On Saturday the 30th of October, Architectural Digest and Nuebo presented international renowned interior and furniture designer Adriana Hoyos’ newest collection ‘AFRICA.’ The launch cocktail party, sponsored by Perriet Jouet champagne was a sophisticated, but fun affair when guests from Casa de Campo mingled with special VIP guests from the Dominican Republic and others who had flown in especially for this special event. The launch celebration began at 6pm in the Casa de Campo hotel pool area, which for those of us who arrived punctually afforded us the pleasure of enjoying a beautiful sunset over our first glass of champagne, whilst also admiring Adriana’s new collection, tastefully displayed around the pool area. About ‘AFRICA’ Inspired by one of the continents that expresses its beautiful nature, raw elements, and animal textures, shapes and forms; the designer was influenced by the African culture when she imagined a drum like silhouette table. The visual texture of animal skin and color contrasts of the African desert are present through a wide variety of pieces. This is a complete collection that can create its on dramatic ambiance or add to any existing room. Noble dark and light woods, reversed coconut inlay, interesting leather applications, and intentional giraffe molded wood patterns make of Africa an innovative proposal. Whether at a relaxed beach home or in a metropolitan setting, Africa is unique and timeless.
During the event, Sabrina Brugal (from Sabrina en Fin de Semana) was the special guest emcee for a presentation which welcomed the distinguished guests, included a video presentation from Adriana herself and a speech from David Solis, editor of Architectural Digest and came to a spectacular close with an African-themed dance presentation, by Altos de Chavón’s Kandela dancers. Here in Casa de Campo we are already in love with Adriana Hoyos’ work – it is her furniture which has been used to refurbish the new Casa de Campo lobby, redesigned by interior architects Mayra Gonzalez and Rafael Selman, who were also in attendance at the event.
