This Friday the 29th of May, at 7pm, a very special art exhibit is opening at the Main Gallery in Altos de Chavon. The exhibit will showcase the exceptional artistic talents of the pupils at the Abraham Lincoln School in La Romana. Everyone is invited to attend the inauguartion on Friday, but for those who cannot make it, the exhibition will be open next week as well.
Work by almost every pupil in the school will be included, from pupils in the Pre-Kinder classes, as young as 4 years old, up to the 12th Grade pupils. A huge variety of art work will be on display; paintings, clay work, masks, pots, mosaic tiles and sculptures.
James Adams, the school’s art teacher is very excited about the display and told us that he is very proud of all the pupils’ art work and is very grateful for the opportunity to display their artistic talents. We also spoke to Mr Hockley, one of the 5th grade teachers, who told us that the 5th grade pupils have been busy making self portraits, masks, painted stones and watercolour paintings for the exhibit.
The pupil’s themselves are very excited about the display. Eliana Alba and Vittoria Bella, in 8th grade, who have been working on a colourful painting of butterflies, told us that they are very proud of their work and they can’t wait to show off their work to their friends and families.
