On Wednesday, April 3rd, golfers headed down to La Marina to celebrate the opening of the 34th Annual Sugar Golf Tournament hosted by Alfy Fanjul. IBI Yachts with Azimut Yachts presented the seaside event and featured some of their megayachts.
This year, IBI Yachts chose to host the gathering at the newly renovated La Casita Restaurant, close to their offices in the Marina Casa de Campo, and it could not have been more perfect. With a beautiful view, this breezy seaside restaurant was the perfect location for the nautical themed celebration hosted by Azimut Yachts.
After arriving early in the day for practice rounds on the golf courses, many players and their spouses enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of La Casita getting to know their competitors a bit better and seeing long-time friends. Over 300 players participated in the Sugar Golf Tournament this year and were welcomed by Mauro Caslini President and CEO of IB Nautica or Federico Ferrante, the Azimut-Benetti president for the USA. Alfy Fanjul gave a warm welcome to those in attendance and encouraged anyone interested in the spectacular yachts to contact the evening’s host.
The yachts served as a beautiful backdrop to the party setting, fulfilling another great start to the Casa de Campo Sugar golf tournament. This 34th edition continued with practice rounds on Thursday and tournament rounds on Friday and Saturday. Ladies teed off around the Dye Fore (Lakes/ Marina) as well as the Links, while gentlemen golfers played on the Teeth of the Dog and the La Romana Country Club.
Guests also enjoyed a weekend of shopping at the MIR Sugar Bazaar in the La Romana Country Club clubhouse and many social events. A prize-giving ceremony and dinner party at the La Romana Country Club brought the tournament to a close on Saturday evening.
