The FIP (Foundation for International Polo) World Cup Play-Offs, were celebrated in Casa de Campo from Tuesday the 3rd of May through to Sunday the 15th of May and during their time here, the polo players as well as their friends and families got out and about exploring not only Casa de Campo but nearby tourist attractions, such as the Tabacalera de Garcia – the world’s largest hand-rolled cigar factory! On a tour organized by Casa de Campo Living, the FIP group did a walk through tour of the factory where they were lead step by step through the entire Cigar-making process, from the processing and preparation of the wrappers when they first arrive, through to the blending of the different leaves, which create each unique cigar, as well as the creation of the cigar boxes which are also surprisingly hand made – put together with wood and nails and decorated with paper and glue. Our FIP visitors were understandably very impressed with the factory, if you’ve never done this tour – it’s about time you did, it really is very interesting!
