On Saturday, January 15th, the La Romana Country Club golf course in Casa de Campo hosted over 80 players participating in the Fundación MIR “Golf for Education” tournament 2022. This tournament has been a tradition for more than 10 years and thanks to the generous participation from the golfing community, the more than 2,000 children enrolled in MIR schools will be able to continue with their education.
Upon arrival, the players were greeted by the staff of the Fundación MIR, who following all health and safety protocols, handed them this year’s goody bag. Then, they all had the opportunity to practice their swings and putts before starting the tournament.
The Fundación MIR “Golf for Education” Tournament was played “Scramble” style, with teams working together to obtain the lowest score on each hole together. Each teammate hits a drive and then the best of the four balls is then played. The teamwork style of scramble tournaments keeps the game fun and more community-focused than individual score-driven. It is the perfect format for fundraisers, keeping the energy all about teamwork and the community!
