The Patronato Benéfico Oriental (PBO) once again orchestrated a remarkable weekend of philanthropy on February 17, 2024, showcasing the enduring spirit of communal solidarity. Now in its twenty-seventh year, this event stands as a beacon of hope, rallying individuals and businesses to support vital educational, social and health initiatives benefitting La Romana’s youth.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Romana Country Club, the day unfolded with various engaging activities catering to various interests. From traditional golf and tennis tournaments to serene yoga sessions, guests indulged in a spectrum of leisure pursuits, including lively padel matches, thrilling pickleball showdowns, and an upcycling workshop led by artist Jaqueline Severino.

As dusk settled, the La Romana Country Club welcomed attendees to a sumptuous dinner meticulously crafted by the club’s culinary artisans. The evening crescendoed with the infectious rhythms of live dance music, courtesy of The Boba Band accompanied by Adalgisa Pantaleón, as guests flooded the dance floor, transforming the ambiance into an electrifying celebration of altruism and camaraderie.

Xiomara Menéndez Dájer, president of the PBO, extended heartfelt gratitude to the community, acknowledging the unwavering support of families, friends, and sponsoring entities whose contributions fuel the organization’s transformative mission. “Together, we have achieved profound milestones in enhancing the educational and well-being of La Romana’s children,” said Menéndez Dájer, emphasizing the pivotal role of collective action in effecting positive change.

In recognition of participants’ dedication and skill, awards were given to winners across the day’s activities, highlighting the friendly competition and shared commitment to philanthropy.

It was truly an evening filled with wonder, celebrating a beautiful cause! We can’t wait for next year’s Hogar del Niño Weekend and hope to see more people participating.
