Last week we announced Café de la Leche’s April get-together hosted by Lisa Mayda and Arlin Fernandez, and we just wanted to remind you to be there! In the lovely Lucas Restaurant, just outside Casa de Campo in North Buena Vista, our friends at Patronato Benefico Oriental (PBO) will meet up there with members from the Casa de Campo community at 5 pm in support of the children of Hogar del Niño.
Café de la Leche was founded in 2001 by a group of ladies from the PBO, and milk is one of the primary needs for the children in their nursery home. Babies up to 6 months need around 8 bottles of milk per day, and as they grow the amount is reduced and complimented with solid food. The kitchen prepares more than 800 bottles a day!!!
At Café de la Leche, Hogar del Niño asks you to contribute Milex Kinder, Gold, NAN, Enfamil, Alacta Plus, Nido Crecimiento of 1,800 grams, or RD$1,200 for their crib rooms where they feed, bathe, and clothe more than 200 babies daily.

The Hogar del Niño
The Hogar del Niño is a children’s daycare and educational center for over 1500 children, located in La Romana town, just outside of Casa de Campo. Children from as young as just a few weeks old up to 18 years old are cared for and educated daily, from as early as 5:30am and staying as late as 7pm.
The organization also provides special schooling to over 75 hearing impaired and blind children, as well as a vocational school where over 235 students receive classes in different areas like: sewing; industrial preparation, installation and electrical maintenance; plumbing and management of computer office programs.
