It’s hard to believe the incredible feedback we have had about the 30 day challenge, with lots of our wonderful readers taking up my “30-day daily exercise” challenge, or being inspired to take on another challenge. So with this in mind, and with the next 30 days almost upon us, we want to invite YOU to declare your next challenge with our community and your experience embracing this.
We’ll be doing this all year long, so if you have not started, its not too late to start a new challenge with us on the 1st of February… or whenever you want, you can even start today!
So what is a 30-day challenge?
The basic premise is that anyone can do anything for 30-days.
So rather than setting yourself an unobtainable goal like “I will never eat chocolate again”, you could challenge yourself to give up chocolate for 30 days. And seen as it takes 21 days to form a good habit, or give up a bad one, if you succeed in your 30-day challenge, the chances are you will have changed your life for the better. You probably won’t ever give up chocolate for good, but going without for 30 days should teach your body to crave it less… The same can be said for anything you’ve been wanting to give up, or try, or do more of… this is completely personal so what you choose is completely up to you.
This video gives you a good idea of what it’s all about:
A few ideas
If your feeling stuck choosing a challenge, take a look at a few that we are contemplating:
Go vegetarian
Take a photo every day
Try yoga every day
Go for a walk everyday
Talk (a deep conversation) to a loved one everyday
Study a language everyday (we suggest duolingo)
Try cooking (or just eating) a new recipe every day
Do a sport every day
Learn something new – read a comprehensive wikipedia article every day – or take an online class
Give up smoking for 30 days
Give up drinking for 30 days
There are no rules, come up with your own! And keep in mind that when the challenge is over, that does not mean you have to finish with it, but the choice is yours if you want to keep your new habit or not!
Declare your 30-day challenge
Trust me it is MUCH easier to stick with a challenge knowing that the entire community knows about it – so please email us you 30-day challenges to rhughes@silgon.net and we’ll be announcing them on February 1st – just in time for us all to get started with the next 30-day challenge!
My 30-day daily exercise challenge – UPDATE
So how is my first challenge going? Awesome. Despite somedays really NOT wanting to get out of bed to workout I have stuck with it and although I probably look and weigh the same (I’ve not measured or weighed myself) I feel better and after all for me that’s what this was all about.
Will I do exercise everyday for the rest of my life? Hell no! But I’m sure that after these 30-days is over I’ll keep exercising regularly.
