An introduction to the Marine History of the Dominican Republic at the Casa de Campo Yacht Club

Last Saturday the 28th of April, the Casa de Campo Yacht Club in the Marina Casa de Campo hosted a cocktail and “book reading” event in honor of Miguel Reyes Sánchez, who is the author of “Océanos de Tinta y Papel”, a historical study of worldwide maritime affairs, including an in-depth chapter on the nautical history of the Dominican Republic.  The invitation only event, was attended by members of the Casa de Campo Yacht Club, members of the local voluntary “Marine Rescue”, representatives of the Marina Casa de Campo port authorities and some very special visitors to Casa de Campo as well as of course Casa de Campo villa owners and residents who all enjoyed a cocktail (delicious strawberry mojitos) before the presentation began.

During the presentation, Miguel Reyes spoke about his book, and especially about the fascinating nautical history of the Dominican Republic, talking about the voyages and discoveries of Christopher Columbus as well as more modern topics such as the current uses of the Dominican Republic’s many ports.
