This morning, when I was out walking my puppy, Leila, on the Teeth of the Dog golf course I was struck by a thought “I love December in Casa de Campo”, so here I share with you my top 5 reasons why the month of December is so wonderful in Casa de Campo!
1. The weather!
It’s warm and sunny, but it is not hot and humid! The hot, humid and rainy months of the hurricane season are now behind us – leaving us able to enjoy beautiful sunny days, ideal for sunbathing, golfing, tennis and other sporty pursuits, without the risk of getting wet (either from rain or sweat!) And after sundown, when the temperature drops we can enjoy al fresco dining with a cool refreshing evening breeze – but don’t forget a scarf or shawl, it really does get “chilly” in the evenings!
2. Non-stop FUN!
December is undoubtedly one of the busiest months of the year in Casa de Campo – and if you’ve got the energy there are parties, events and activities going on every weekend, as well as on many weekdays. December is Casa de Campo’s party month! Here are some awesome upcoming events:

3. Christmas Food, Dinners and Drinks!
‘Tis the season to be jolly and to indulge in some great food and maybe a few too many drinks….
- Casa de Campo’s restaurants; La Piazzetta, La Casita, La Caña, the BeachClub by Le Cirque and the Lago Grill have all planned delicious special Christmas menus – click here for details!
- And on Thursday the 22nd of December, Gino in Trastevere is hosting a very special Gastronomical Feast, sponsored by Ron Atlantico “Sabores de Lujo: Ron Atlantico” – a 4 course meal created using Ron Atlantico and paired with Ron Atlantico cocktails! Click here for more details!
At this time of year we enjoy the most beautiful sunsets in Casa de Campo! Some excellent spots to enjoy the sunset from are:
- The ocean-front holes of the Teeth of the Dog
- The Marina Casa de Campo – especially at the end of the Paseo del Mar
- The cocktail terrace at Gino in Trastevere – although you can’t actually see the sunset from here, the view of over the Chavón river is stunning!
For those of us who live full time in Casa de Campo, December is a magical time of year – because all our friends and family from around the world visit for their Christmas vacations! For those of you who haven’t arrived yet – we look forward to seeing you soon!
