The 27th annual Hogar del Niño Weekend unfolded with vibrant sportsmanship and community engagement at the La Romana Country Club. Casa de Campo’s residents and guests eagerly participated in various events on Saturday, Feb. 17th, 2024, embracing the spirit of giving back while enjoying spirited competition and camaraderie.

Participants filled the courts as early as 7:30 am, honing their skills and enjoying the thrill of competition. Golf, tennis, pickleball, and paddle matches captivated players of all ages and skill levels, infusing the atmosphere with energy and excitement.

Golf enthusiasts took to the lush greens in a spirited display of sportsmanship. The tournament played in a collaborative “scrabble” format and fostered teamwork and friendly competition, underscoring the event’s ethos of community involvement.

The day’s highlights were exceptional performances that culminated in the recognition of deserving winners. In the ladies’ category, Sally Setton and Mary Ledesma secured prestigious titles for Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. At the same time, Joel Lizardo and Leo Sanchez won in the men’s category.

In the net category, Quino Montero, George Bell, and Mary Ledesma secured third place, followed by Miguel Barbero, Alejandro Zeller, Rafael Blanco, and Manuel Perez Vazquez in second place. Munir Dauhajre, Danilo Caro, Jose Trullols, and Jaime Bonetti took top honors for the net score. At the same time, Otto Guerrero, Edgar Alma, George Riley, and Joel Lizardo claimed victory in the gross category.

The tennis and paddle tournaments showcased remarkable skill and teamwork. Carlos Pina and Homero De Pool emerged as champions in tennis, while Alex Leiter and Roberto Quiroz clinched the title in paddle. Peter Lashchuk, Marie Brovillette, Cristian De la Osa, and Maria Mendoza earned recognition as runners-up in their respective categories.

Guests also had the opportunity to participate in a serene yoga session and an upcycling workshop led by artist Jaqueline Severino, and the kids enjoyed various activities prepared by the PBO staff.
