For two decades, the McDaniel Tennis Tournament has been more than just a competition — it’s been a game-changer for ball boys and players in Casa de Campo. This year’s event, set for March 5-9, marks the tournament’s 20th anniversary with a fresh format, high-stakes matches, and a heartfelt tribute to the many years of the tournament.

A Legacy of Giving

Founded by Rick McDaniel, this annual tournament has provided scholarships, vocational courses, health insurance, medical assistance, and English classes to ball boys and players in Casa de Campo. Over the years, more than 30 players and 60 ball boys have benefited from these initiatives. This year, the goal is to raise $70,000 to continue supporting these programs.

With the transition following the last full-time involvement of Mr. Rick McDaniel, the Patronato Benéfico Oriental (PBO) stepped in to support the tournament’s core programs, ensuring its continuity and impact on the community.

A New Format, Same High Stakes

To spice things up, the tournament introduces a points system to determine the four top players who will battle it out in the finals. This shake-up promises an intense and competitive conclusion to the event.

Tournament Schedule

  • March 5-7: Qualifying rounds begin daily at 9 a.m. at LTCC.
  • March 7, 6 p.m.: Cocktail reception for donors and sponsors, plus an exhibition padel tournament at LRCC padel courts.
  • March 8, 9 a.m.: Semi-finals at LRCC.
  • March 9, 4 p.m.: Finals at LRCC, followed by the awards ceremony and reception.

The event celebrates not only talent on the court but also the power of sports to uplift lives. Casa de Campo’s tennis pros and ballboys work in pickleball, padel and tennis, showcasing their dedication to the game while securing opportunities for a brighter future.

Whether by attending matches, donating, or becoming a sponsor, there are plenty of ways to support the tournament. Donations can be made via check and delivered to the LRCC office next to the pro shop. As always, the tournament is about more than just competition — it’s about serving up support where it’s needed most.
