20 Year anniversary celebration of Clínica de Familia La Romana in New York City

Last month the Clínica de Familia La Romana continued the celebration of its 20 years of work and trajectory of growth, saving lives and improving the health of people in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic. The event was celebrated at the New York Athletic Club in New York City, where 130 people gathered, including personalities who have been part of the work done by the institution since its inception.

Its founder, Dr. Stephen W. Nicholas, highlighted with great pride before those present, his work in the eighties working for children living with HIV in the United States and the development of different support programs, for the benefit of this population. He also talked about his career since 1999 when he arrived in La Romana which all began with a phone call from the Adoratrices Sisters, to help with the first intervention of the program to reduce vertical transmission of HIV.

The executive director of Clínica de Familia La Romana, Mina Halpern Lozada, highlighted how the Family Clinic is reaching more than 13,000 people each year and providing more than 170,000 services annually. These services range from primary care to mental health and specialized care services, including the most recent services, such as nephrology and pulmonology. She also shared the innovative vision of continuing to provide services to current and new users, with the construction of the new La Romana Family Clinic building. This new building will allow them to offer new services both for vulnerable populations and for the community in general. She emphasized to those present that this vision can only come true with the support of each of them. Your donations will be an investment in Family Clinic, helping with the construction of this new infrastructure, giving them the ability to reach the next twenty years and more.
