This year, an incredible 112 Casa de Campo golfers took part in the Fundación MIR Family Weekend for Life golf tournament which was played on Saturday afternoon the 11th of October 2012 at the La Romana Country Club.
The golf tournament was part of the annual Fundación MIR Family Weekend for Life event, celebrated this past Saturday the 11th of August 2012 which also included a tennis tournament, as well as a dinner-dance gala on Minitas Beach. The golf tournament, played in a scramble format was expertly managed by the Casa de Campo golf department team; Director of Golf Gilles Gagnon, golf professionals Dave Pfisterer and Raul Cendoya as well as Director of Instruction for the Jim McLean Golf School at Casa de Campo, Eric Lillibridge.

On their way around the golf course, golfers enjoyed various snacks and beverages sponsored by the numerous corporate supporters of the Fundación MIR, such as Coca Cola, Productos Higueral, Induveca and Mister Hotdog, as well as my personal favorite – Ron Atlantico.
And so after a beautiful sunny afternoon on the golf course, the 112 golfers handed in their score cards and returned home to get ready for the dinner-dance hosted later that night at Minitas Beach – where the golf tournament winners were announced and awarded their prizes! The Fundación MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide education to the children of the greater La Romana area, who are most in need. They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Tecnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (infants school).
