On Saturday the 2nd of February, the “Zumba Carnaval” in the Marina Casa de Campo kick-started the Marina Casa de Campo’s month-long Carnaval celebration.

Celebrated in the Plaza Portofino of the Marina Casa de Campo, the event – a Carnaval-themed Zumba Master Class – had Casa de Campo’s energetic ladies dancing the afternoon away in a variety of colorful, glittering and tasselled headwear and outfits.

With special guest Carlos Torres – the Zumba king from Santo Domingo on stage, the ladies shimmied and gyrated to the invigorating mix of latin tunes – and although not technically a carnaval parade – the activity certainly captured the spirit, passion and energy of the traditional Carnaval Dominicano.

With Zumba currently a craze amongst Casa de Campo’s ladies, Casa de Campo “zumbaistas”; Daniela Diazgranados, Lia Matos, Gaby Grisolia and Margery Pinnette, all certified Zumba instructors themselves joined Carlos Torres on stage to lead the ladies with a few of their own dance moves! Also seen up on stage was Casa de Campo villa owner Ivonna Sosa, a member of the Marina Casa de Campo Carnaval organisation committee, as well as Susana Joa, owner of Chinois restaurant – who both energetically strutted their stuff and really showed everyone what Zumba is all about!

AND that’s not all! This February there are more than 45 events planned in Casa de Campo – with lots of Carnaval celebrations, live music and much more! Don’t miss out on all the fun – check out: www.todo.fm for the full schedule of events!
