While the last 6 months, termed as “hurricane season” in the Dominican Republic, we have only seen a few rainy days, and today Sunday November the 30th marks the official end of this rainy, windy season! Woohoo!

Hurricane season 2014 started on June 1st 2014, following which we all braced ourselves for the arrival of tropical depressions, tropical storms and perhaps even a hurricane like Hurricane Gonzalo, which fortunately never arrived. After the near-miss of Tropical Storm Bertha on the 1st of August, marking the start of Hurricane Peak Season, all was quiet and any tropical cyclones that did develop, didn’t even come close to affecting the Dominican Republic. Compared to previous years, the lack of unpleasant weather was a very pleasant surprise!

So what now? Well now that hurricane season is over, we can expect the weather to continue to get better and better! From December to March, the weather in Casa de Campo (and across the entire Dominican Republic) is most pleasant, as temperatures and humidity drop – as does rainfall. It does of course continue to be bright, sunny and warm!

So, if you are somewhere in the United States or another country where the weather is pretty cold (or even freezing and snowy) – you can always come to Casa de Campo and celebrate a “tropical” Christmas or holiday season. Come visit us! We look forward to having you here!
