The 8th annual McDaniel Tennis Tournament started this Wednesday the 6th of March 2013 with the Sponsor’s Luncheon, the Doubles Exhibition (won by the La Romana Country Club team again) and now with the quarter finals already over… the competition is really starting to heat up!!
Tournament rounds starting yesterday morning, Thursday the 7th of March with 32 talented young tennis players from both the La Romana Country Club and La Terrazza Tennis Club battling it out to be named the champion and to take home the all-important prize money!
Earlier today (Friday March 8th), the quarter finals were played at the La Terraza Tennis Club, with Rick McDaniel founder of the tournament along with members of the Casa de Campo community watching from sidelines. In heated and passionately fought out matches reigning champion Pedro Nolasco triumphed over Angelo Hamilton, Edwin Guerrero snatched victory off Miguel Mercedes, whilst Francisco Concepción succeeded against Fernando Adames and Wilson Johnson was victorious against José Santana.
Tomorrow morning at 9am the semi-finals will be played at the La TerrazZach Tennis Club with Pedro Nolasco going head to head with Edwin Guerrero and Wilson Johnson against Francisco Concepción. Spectators welcome!
The finals will then be played at 4pm on Sunday at the La Romana Country Club – we look forward to seeing you there!

About the McDaniel Tennis Tournament The tournament, played annually between the teaching professionals and ball boys of the La Romana Country Club and the La Terraza Tennis Club in Casa de Campo, is the principle fundraising effort for the Ball Boy’s Scholarship Fund, The Ball Boy’s Scholarship Program now finances the education of a total of 20 ball boys and 1 ball girl and is this year even hoping to fund a college scholarship for one of the graduating ball boys, as Rick McDaniel, Founder and President of the annual event said “it’s not just about tennis, it’s about education and helping the boys get a better job”.
