Last Friday, July 11, the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery marked the close of “Los Trazos Esenciales,” the solo exhibition by Argentine painter Susana Gíser, with an evening that blended visual art, tango and cuisine for an immersive cultural experience.

As part of the program, renowned dancers Jorge Colombatti and Natalia Crescitelli performed four tango numbers, each chosen to showcase different facets of the genre. The set list also featured works by celebrated Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, lending a contemporary emotional depth to the night.

Guests complemented the performance with traditional Argentine empanadas prepared by the Casa de Campo Hotel culinary team using a recipe from Culinary Director Rodrigo Menéndez.

The gallery extended special thanks to Menéndez and the Food and Beverage staff, whose Banquets division routinely supports cultural events.

Since its June 14 opening, “Los Trazos Esenciales” offered a deep dive into essentialist art, highlighting works that distill expression to pure form, color and line. The show was backed by the Embassy of Argentina in the Dominican Republic and opened with the attendance of Ambassador Sandra Winkler.

With Friday’s closing event, the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery reaffirmed its commitment to promoting art and culture throughout the Caribbean.
