ScotiabankScotiabank donated US$25,000 to the Patronato Bénefico Oriental last Friday October 31st, as part of its Global Philanthropy Program “Iluminando el Mañana”, which supports and promotes foundations and causes that provide opportunities for the youth of today, to offer a better future tomorrow. In addition to the formal handover of US$25,000, Scotiabank representatives were able to take a tour through the Hogar del Niño, the Dominican Republic’s most complete education and daycare center, funded by the umbrella foundation, the Patronato Bénefico Oriental.

Xiomara Menéndez, whom we interviewed in our most recent edition of CasaLife Magazine, founded the Hogar del Niño with a group of fellow Casa de Campo ladies more than 40 years ago, was very grateful to receive the generous donation. “Thanks to the support of the Scotiabank, children and youth from the Patronato Benéfico Oriental have had the opportunity to benefit from our education programs, enabling them to have the tools to be productive and independent citizens, ” Xiomara said. The Hogar del Niño School hogar del nino la romana The Hogar del Niño is a children’s daycare and educational center for over 1500 children, located in La Romana town, just outside of Casa de Campo.
