The Altos de Chavón School of Art & Design Artist-in-Residence program invites artists from all over the world for a three and a half months residence, towards the end of which they open an exhibit to showcase their work – this year opening on Thursday April 4th 2013 with a cocktail at The Gallery in Altos de Chavon.

During the Artist-in-Residence program, each artist must provide an art exhibition to be shown at The Gallery in Altos de Chavón, as well as prepare a Talk for the school, this emphasizes the importance of culture exchange which is extremely beneficial for the students education.

With 4 different artists from 4 different countries, this exhibit promises to be extraordinary. Here we introduce to the 4 artists and their works:

Mildor Chevalier: Visual Artist from Haití living in New York.

Mildor’s work has been shown in many places around the world: Santo Domingo, Miami, New York, Paris, Tenerife, Madrir, Beijing, Shanghái, Dallan and Guangzhou (China).

Saba Farhoudnia: Painter born in Irán.

She started with the Graphic Training at the Visual Arts School in Teherán. She is acclaimed as a new exceptional talent. Her art work is unusual breath taking!

Maria Batlle: Dominican visual artist and aviation pilot. Sponsored by Red Bull, Mini Cooper and Stolichnaya.

She’ll present a project that combines music (produced and played by herself) and her paintings.

Duncan Tonatiuh is an award winning mexican author and illustrator.

Duncan has collaborated with the Journal of Children’s Literature, Contratiempo magazine, among others. His work is inspired by Ancient Mexican art.

Following the opening on April 4th, the exhibit will remain open at The Gallery in Altos de Chavón until April 29th.

Currently on exhibit at The Gallery in Altos de Chavón is “Art Chavón 2013”, a remarkable collection of works produced by the students and graduates of the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design.
