On March 1, 2025, the iconic Altos de Chavón amphitheater hosted a tribute to one of the greatest figures in world music: Frank Sinatra. With the powerful voice of Michael Martocci, a legendary New York singer, the audience experienced a magical night filled with nostalgia, rhythm, and emotion.
In addition to celebrating Sinatra’s music, the concert was part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas and the 43rd anniversary of Sinatra’s historic visit to the Dominican Republic, when he inaugurated the Altos de Chavón stage with his “Concert for the Americas” tour in 1982.

The night kicked off with the vibrant rhythm of bossa nova, performed by Dominican Bossa, led by the renowned musician Antonio González. The group added a Dominican touch by recreating popular songs like “Para darte mi vida” and “Bailando,” warming up the crowd for the star of the evening.
After 9 p.m., following a surprise downpour that didn’t dampen the crowd’s energy, Martocci took the stage, joined by a band of over 20 musicians, including notable Dominican talents. The audience’s excitement remained high, especially when the first chords of classics like “My Way” echoed throughout the amphitheater. With each song, Sinatra’s legacy came to life through Martocci’s unmistakable voice.

Between songs, Martocci shared anecdotes about his idol and his personal connection to Sinatra’s music, taking the audience on a time-traveling journey, reliving the moment Sinatra himself performed on the Altos de Chavón stage in 1982. A giant screen displayed images and videos of Sinatra, further enhancing the emotional connection with the legend.

One of the most poignant moments of the evening came when Martocci performed “New York, New York,” right before the concert ended. The night’s farewell, complete with golden confetti and fireworks, left a nostalgic feeling in the air. Through his performance, Martocci made Sinatra’s presence feel more alive than ever, closing the unforgettable evening on a high note.
Martocci’s setlist included hits like “I’ve Got the World on a String,” “Come Fly With Me,” “The Lady is a Tramp,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “My Kind of Town,” and of course, “My Way.” Each song served as a unique tribute to an artist who remains an icon of world music.
The event, filled with magic, emotion, and the unmistakable flavor of Sinatra’s music, left an indelible mark on the hearts of the attendees, who had the chance to relive the grandeur of an eternal music icon on the Altos de Chavón stage. Without a doubt, a tribute that will last for many years to come.
