This past weekend the 15th – 18th of December we celebrated the official inauguration of Christmas in Casa de Campo – with more merry and festive events and activities than ever before; 3 ballet performances, the Bazaar Navideño (part 2), the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Fireworks, a caroling concert and the 1st annual Holiday Golf Cart Parade!
Whilst we would love to publish all the photos of the festive fun taken over the last weekend immediately, it is going to take me a few days to sort them all out – so for now here is a quick summary of a wonderfully magical pre-Chrsitmas weekend in Altos de Chavón and Casa de Campo!
This majestic ballet spectacular took place on the Altos de Chavón main plaza, with the St Stanislaus church as a stunning back drop. The performance, a mixture of classical and folkloric ballet was presented by ENDANZA, the Dominican National Dance school, with talented ballerinas as young as just 7 years old.
After a rather horrendous amount of rain during the Bazaar Navideño (part 1), the Bazaar Navideño (part 2) took place on Friday and Saturday the 16th and 17th of December and with just a short shower of rain turned out to be much more successful than part 1!
The Nutcracker Ballet performance, presented by the Dominican National Ballet and sponsored by the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Culture of simply wonderful; an exceptional ballet with beautiful costumes, intricate dances and a magical start to the Christmas celebrations!
“The Christmas Harmony” carol performance took place on the Altos de Chavón Plaza directly after the Nutcracker ballet and was excellent. With more than 1,000 members of the Casa de Campo and La Romana communities singing and dancing along this simple concert became a fun party in the plaza!
With the participation of 13 golf carts and more than 70 Casa de Campo villa owners and residents, the 1st annual Holiday Golf Cart parade was a huge success!
Directed by Josefina Miniño, with 150 dancers, national folkloric singers; Ileana Reynoso and Fausto Guillén, the debut performance of “Folklore a los cuatro vientos” was exceptional.
