The Altos de Chavón Art Gallery is preparing for the highly anticipated closing of INDÓMITA Season 8, the platform that has revolutionized the synergy between Dominican art and fashion.

The closing event will be honored by the presence of Karina Cortorreal, the heart and mind behind INDÓMITA. Since its founding in 2021, Cortorreal’s mission has been bold: to create an essential bridge between fashion designers, artists and artisans to boost Dominican culture.

During the conversation, Cortorreal will share the origins, challenges and profound inspiration that has guided INDÓMITA to consolidate itself as a key driver for elevating and promoting the country’s contemporary art and fashion. It will be a unique opportunity to learn about the future vision that seeks to take local talent beyond national borders.

INDÓMITA 8: A Tribute to the Master of Contrasts

Since its successful opening on Nov. 14, this eighth season has paid a deep tribute to the legacy of the unforgettable visual artist Jorge Severino (1935-2020), the “painter of contrasts” famous for his iconic female portraits, from his “sad dolls” to his elegant Caribbean “queens.”

The exhibition has demonstrated how art can be worn as fashion, presenting unique collections that capture the beauty, elegance and myth found in Severino’s work.

The exhibition will remain open to the public until Dec. 2, 2025, inviting reflection on the value of identity in creation. However, the conversation with Karina Cortorreal is a single-night event that encapsulates the indomitable spirit of national creativity. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the closure of this celebration of Dominican art and identity.
