The iconic Altos de Chavón Amphitheater was the stage for a deeply moving evening with a special acoustic concert by Hakuna, an international movement made up of young Spaniards on a Catholic mission to share a message of faith and hope with communities across the eastern region of the Dominican Republic.

Spreading Faith Through Song
Before an enthusiastic and diverse audience from Santiago de los Caballeros, Santo Domingo, Higüey and La Romana, the night turned into a joyful and purposeful musical gathering that promoted a message of hope and love for humanity. More than 60 performers filled the stone stage at Chavón, including choirs, guitarists, percussionists, a pianist and even a violinist, performing some of their most popular songs such as “Huracán,” “Sencillamente,” “Forofos” and “Un segundo,” among others, all sung along by the crowd.
Founded at World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Hakuna has traveled internationally, using music to inspire and uplift communities. In this acoustic performance, the group’s authenticity resonated deeply, inviting the audience to reflect, rejoice and connect through lyrics and melodies.
The audience experienced an intimate and meaningful night where faith, charity and joy intertwined under the starlit sky of Chavón. It was a different, magical evening in an iconic setting that reaffirmed the power of faith and music born of hope.

The concert was supported by Central Romana, Costasur Dominicana and Casa de Campo as part of the resort’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
“For Central Romana it has been a great satisfaction to welcome Hakuna to Altos de Chavón and support their work in our farming communities. These initiatives not only bring music and joy, but also share a message of hope and solidarity with our people. We are honored to be part of an experience that combines art, faith and social commitment,” said Jorge Sturla, vice president of public relations.
