Los Miembros Fundadores del LAAC durante la primera ronda del Latin America Amateur Championship 2016 en Casa de Campo.
LAAC es una colaboración entre tres de las organizaciones de golf más reconocidas: Masters Tournament, la R&A y el United States Golf Association (USGA). Esta es la segunda edición del torneo, el evento inaugural tomó lugar en Buenos Aires, Argentina donde Matías Domínguez ganó el primer lugar.Esta edición nos trae los mejores jugadores de 27 países de la región, 108 jugadores en total, donde sus habilidades serán puesta a prueba en el reconocido campo de golf Teeth of Dog diseñado por Pete Dye en Casa de Campo. LAAC será una experiencia inolvidable para los jugadores ya que el campeón tendrá la oportunidad de jugar en el Torneos de Masters en abril 2016, además de que se ganan un lugar en The Amateur Championship and the U.S. Amateur Championship y obtienen la exención para participar en las etapas finales clasificatorias en el 145th Open el U.S. Open 2016.Entre los jugadores a tener en cuenta este fin de semana están Matias Dominguez, Campeon actual, Claudio Correa and Joaquin Niemann todos desde Chile; Alejandro Tosti (quien estuvo increíblemente cerca de ganar el primer lugar el año pasado), junto con Matias Simaski y Gaston Bertinotti desde Argentina, Juan Alvarez de Uruguay; André Tourinho de Brazil; Jorge Garcia de Venezuela; Santiago Gómez de Colombia; Roberto Ruiz y Álvaro Ortiz desde México; José Méndez de Costa Rica; Juan José Guerra, Chad McCann y José Hernández desde República Dominicana.

La conferencia de prensa tuvo lugar ayer en el salón de conferencia El Flamboyan en Casa de Campo con los señores Billy Payne, Presidente del Masters Tournament, Mike Davis, Director Ejecutivo USGA, y Martin Slumbers, Director en Jefe del R&A, como miembros del panel. Durante su discurso de apertura, Mike Davis calificó el pasado torneo inaugural como “éxito rotundo” y mencionó las dos razones principales por las cuales este torneo comenzó: (1) Para darle una oportunidad, una área un torneo para los jugadores amateur elite en América Latina, y (2) Desarrollar e inspirar el juego con esperanzas de ver los resultados en los años venideros.¡La sede del torneo del año que viene fue anunciado ayer, y LAAC 2017 será en Panamá!
