Clínica de Familia La Romana recently marked its 25th anniversary with a groundbreaking ceremony for new facilities set to expand healthcare services in the region. This milestone event reinforced the clinic’s dedication to improving the health and well-being of the La Romana community.

Hosted by Hilda Peguero, secretary of the board, the ceremony began with the Dominican national anthem and a blessing by Father Héctor Sánchez of San Eduardo parish. Ana Jiménez, speaking on behalf of board President Martha Victoria, emphasized the clinic’s impact and aspirations, noting, “We celebrate 25 years of service dedicated to the well-being of our community. This groundbreaking marks the beginning of a promising future for health in La Romana. I am grateful to our collaborators and all who have been part of this journey. This is just the start of all we will achieve together.”

Founder Dr. Stephen W. Nicholas shared his pride in the clinic’s accomplishments. At the same time, Executive Director Mina Halpern Lozada stated, “We celebrate the past 25 years and look to the future with excitement. The construction of this building represents the next chapter in our mission, where we will continue saving lives and providing quality services.” She also expressed gratitude to key supporters, including the Children’s Global Health Fund and the Pincus Family Foundation, for their invaluable contributions.

The event celebrated the clinic’s legacy with a commemorative video highlighting its positive community impact. The ceremonial first dig marked the official beginning of construction, promising further support for Clínica de Familia’s mission to enhance healthcare access in La Romana.
