Last Friday the 5th of April, Rolando Gonzalez-Bunster and his lovely wife Monika hosted a magnificent Argentine BBQ at their villa in Costa Verde.
The beautiful burnt orange villa, where the family recently hosted former president Bill Clinton for lunch, was the perfect setting for the 3rd evening of celebrations surrounding the 28th annual Sugar Golf Tournament hosted by Alfy Fanjul, President and CEO of the Central Romana Corporation.
And whilst everything was perfect by the time we all arrived, the scene of the party was, just a few hours before, a little less serene – as a rain storm passed through – and our generous hosts considered cancelling the occasion. Miraculously by 7pm the rain not only ceased, but the sky cleared completely – allowing the stars to shine through on this special gathering.
The Gonzalez-Bunster family and friends!

While I whizzed around the crowd meeting and greeting friends (and taking photos of course), I had the pleasure of meeting the mother of Allegra Fanjul, proudly wearing an “Allegra Fanjul” original necklace, from her collection on sale at the MIR Bazaar over the weekend. It was of course always a pleasure to spot so many fellow members of the Casa de Campo community relaxing and having a nice time, as well as the many golfers we only get the pleasure of seeing once or twice a year, for this event and perhaps also during the holiday season.
Food was served “buffet style” directly from the BBQ area, where our host Rolando dressed as a chef, served up the meat himself. At tables circling the pool, we ate, drank and made merry, until it was time for our golfers to head home and prepare for the final day of the tournament.
Congratulations to the Gonzalez-Bunster family for hosting yet another magnificent gathering.

Welcome Cocktail hosted by Benetti
On Wednesday the 3rd of April 2013, the 28th annual Sugar Golf Tournament was officially opened with a welcome cocktail hosted by Benetti yachts represented in the Dominican Republic by Marina Casa de Campo business, I.B.I Nautica. The elegant soiree was celebrated at the Marina Casa de Campo’s beautiful Casa de Campo Yacht Club, where guests not only enjoyed plenty of champagne and Ron Atlantico mojitos, but also got the opportunity to step aboard a Benetti 93 Delfino, the first yacht in the world available to buy on a partial ownership basis.
