Rhadamés Peña, a member of the Dominican national golf team, and Luis Matos, a prominent competitor, won the XXV Royal Cup. This prestigious event, organized by the British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic, took place at the renowned Teeth of the Dog course at Casa de Campo.

Peña and Matos secured the title with an impressive score of 63, earning the distinction of best gross overall score and the right to display replicas of the Claret Jug, awarded at The Open Championship. The tournament featured 120 golfers competing in a Scramble format across Categories A, B and C.

Ryan Polanco, vice president of the Chamber’s board of directors, attended the opening and closing ceremonies, along with past presidents Fernando González, Leonel Melo, José Rodríguez, Roberto Herrera and José María Cabral. The tournament was dedicated to Cabral in recognition of his significant contributions to organizing these professional events. Cabral also had the honor of performing the ceremonial first tee shot.

Category Winners:

  • Category A: Lawrence Jacobo and Gustavo Betances (62); Víctor Rojas and Ramón Arcay (63); Leo Pérez Freixas and Julio Cross (64).
  • Category B: Nelson Báez and Oscar Orsini (63); César Ramírez and Jeffrey Johnson (64); Guillermo Sicard and Rodolfo Marranzini (65).
  • Category C: Roberto Serrano and Amaury Salcedo (63); Alejandro Brache and Braulio Brache (63); Ramón Amado Marte and Jaime Nolasco (64).

The event featured two hole-in-one prizes, courtesy of Seguros Reservas on hole 7 and Club Car on hole 13. Special awards were also presented, with Abel González winning the longest drive and Rhadamés Peña and Elías Pablo receiving accolades for their proximity to the flag on holes 5 and 16, respectively.

The Royal Cup concluded with a luncheon at the Casa de Campo driving range, where participants enjoyed a raffle of numerous prizes, reflecting the event’s spirit of camaraderie and festivity.
