On Friday, Feb. 16, WAO Gallery & Cultural Center inaugurated the Nostalgia of My Yesterday exhibition by Dominican artist Félix Hernández.

Explore childhood memories and surrealism through 34 art pieces until March 18, 2024.

A CHAVÓN School of Design graduate, Hernández captivates us with a fresh and modern proposal of contemporary art. His pieces astonished attendees with their technique and clarity, inviting the audience to identify with the artist’s childhood experiences and reminisce about their own.

Nostalgia of My Yesterday delves into an aesthetic discourse that broadly structures a dialogue between yesterday and today in Hernández’s life. It narrates a childhood full of experiences that depict a world of fantasy and, indeed, nostalgia.

Félix Hernández embraced surrealism as a guarantee of effective visual communication, enveloped in magical hyper-realism. Evoking playful scenes from recent pasts, Hernández clinched the Audience Award at the previous Visual Arts Biennial with his most-voted piece, When We Were Happy and Didn’t Know It.

Thirty-four pieces by the artist will grace the gallery until March 18, 2024, open from Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, and closed on Sundays and Mondays.

The Patronato Benéfico Oriental, Inc.
