Casa de Campo Resort & Villas stands out as the ultimate destination for discerning travelers seeking a luxury golf experience in the Caribbean. At the heart of this acclaimed resort lies the iconic Teeth of the Dog, a golf course meticulously crafted by the renowned Pete Dye. Earning consistent accolades, this course maintains its position among the world’s top 100 golf courses in both Golf Digest and GOLF.com rankings.
In the latest Golf Digest rankings, Teeth of the Dog experienced a notable climb from 32nd to 20th place, firmly placing itself alongside esteemed counterparts like Royal County Down G.C. in Northern Ireland, Royal Portrush G.C., The Old Course in St Andrews, and Muirfield in Scotland. This rise solidifies its standing as a global golfing treasure.

Similarly, GOLF.com’s rankings positioned Teeth of the Dog at 75th among the world’s best courses, including those in the United States. Importantly, Teeth of the Dog is the highest-rated golf course in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean on both lists.
Manuel Relancio, head pro of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, expressed pride in the global acclaim, stating, “Teeth of the Dog continues to shine among the top 100 golf courses worldwide, and we take pride in our global standing. This achievement is a testament to our dedicated staff, who contribute wholeheartedly to ensuring golf enthusiasts savor one of the finest courses of their lives. Our commitment lies in continuous improvement and delivering excellent service to all our golfers.”
Crafted by Pete Dye, hailed as the world’s premier golf architect, Teeth of the Dog was initially named “Cajuiles,” paying homage to the mountainous trees. Later, Dye changed it to “Teeth of the Dog,” inspired by locals describing the sharp coral rock. Alongside his wife Alicia, Dye also designed Dye Fore and The Links, adding to Casa de Campo’s rich golfing legacy.

Teeth of the Dog showcases unparalleled beauty, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, especially the holes overlooking the Caribbean Sea, creating a golfing experience reminiscent of paradise. Hole 5 (Par 3) stands out as the most photographed, and the tee-off on hole 4, situated on a small peninsula, is equally remarkable. Meticulously crafted from Paspalum, the tees, fairways, and greens enhance the unique charm of each hole, contributing to its distinct intimidation factor.
Among its numerous accolades, Teeth of the Dog has received recognition from esteemed golf organizations such as the Masters Tournament, The R&A, and the USGA. It served as the venue for the Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC) three times and hosted the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica during the Dominican Republic Open, further adding to its prestige.
