WAO Gallery & Cultural Center is poised to impress with its upcoming exhibition, ‘Upcycling by Jacqueline Severino,’ a groundbreaking showcase set to open on December 29, where recycled fashion will take the spotlight.
The rising trend of upcycling has transcended beyond niche brands, capturing the attention of established labels, now integrating sustainability into their collections, particularly in vintage fashion, second-hand pieces, and circular consumption.

Jacqueline Severino emerges at the intersection of sustainability and innovation, unveiling unconventional approaches shaping the fashion industry’s future. Her vision for “Upcycling by Jacqueline Severino” aims to deliver sustainable designs that aid the environment, prompting reflection among future generations. It confronts the alarming volume of clothing ending up in landfills due to the pervasive “use and discard” culture.
Comprising 95 pieces categorized into clothing and art, the exhibition will come alive through a fashion show inaugurating the event. Hogar del Niño’s Fashion Design Technical School students will breathe life into these pieces.

The exhibition will run from December 29, 2023, to January 29, 2024, open Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, Sundays and Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and closed on Mondays.
The Patronato Benéfico Oriental, Inc. (PBO) continues its commitment to socially impactful sustainable initiatives, enhancing cultural promotion. It has expanded its programs through WAO Chavón initiatives, including WAO Innovation HUB, WAO Gallery & Cultural Center, and the Altos de Chavón Regional Archaeological Museum in Altos de Chavón.

The proceeds from various projects and activities will support social programs to replicate such initiatives in vulnerable communities served by PBO’s community empowerment programs. This fosters values aligned with their mission, promoting Respect, Solidarity, Integrity, and Equal Opportunities.
