The Fundación Mastrolilli (FUNMAS) and its President, María Victoria Mastrolilli, have announced the upcoming International Tennis Cup from August 31 to September 3 at La Terraza Tennis Center. The sporting event will honor two prominent figures in tennis: Mario Emilio Guerrero Krantz and Antonio Esteban.
The prestigious Mastrolilli Cup, with backing from the National Tennis Federation and the International Tennis Federation (ITF), will feature skilled athletes from Europe, the United States, Aruba, and Puerto Rico competing at Casa de Campo’s tennis court.
Notable personalities from the sports and social spheres attended the event, including Matías Territoriale, Director of Casa de Campo’s La Terraza Tennis Center, Emilio Vásquez, representative of the Dominican Tennis Federation, and Elvis Mallol, Secretary of FUNMAS.
This year, the Mastrolilli Cup pays tribute to the memory of two tennis figures: Mario Emilio Guerrero Krantz, a journalist and sports commentator who served as the event’s organizer and press director for over three decades, and Antonio Esteban, the first Spanish representative player who participated in 40 consecutive editions.
The International Tennis Cup is open to players aged 30 to 80, and FUNMAS President María Victoria Mastrolilli expressed gratitude to the Central Romana Corporation and Casa de Campo for their consistent support since the tournament’s inception 45 years ago as the “Torneo Internacional Siboney,” by the late Vicenzo Mastrolilli.
The president also acknowledged Ramón Méndez and Juan Ríos for their instrumental roles in bringing the competition to life. Mastrolilli emphasized that all funds raised during the tournament will provide school supplies to the boleros from various provinces and offer medical assistance to underprivileged children with degenerative diseases nationwide.
Enthusiastic tennis players can register for the event until August 20, and interested participants must have their Internation Tennis Federation IPI (International Player Index).
